God’s Sabbath Work

God blessed and sanctified the Sabbath as a sign between Him and His people. Of such importance, God said that anyone who works on the Sabbath should be put to death. But Jesus declared that He and His Father have been working until now, even on the Sabbath. How is this consistent? What is God’s, and our, Sabbath work?
